Long Necked Tortoise - Lead Glass Crystal - 2004
H 65 mm, W 150 mm, L 245 mm (3/4 life size)

Long Necked Tortoise (edition of 90) - 2/90

Long necked Tortoises are indigenous to the Southwest of Western Australia. During the early part of spring I have often seen the long grass slowly parting which is a good sign that a Tortoise is off to lay eggs or has already done the job. We have a fresh water crayfish called Marron which is one of the Tortoise's favourite foods, much to the disgust of local humans; Marron fisherman.

This sculpture has been cast in a dichroic glass which changes colour from a light brown to a light lime green in florescent light.
